For Every Child,

The Best Is Yet To Be

For Every Child,

The Best Is Yet To Be

A Beacon of Truth & Light

ACS (Academy) serves students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who have no intellectual impairment and can access the National Curriculum (NC), or what is known as the ASD-NC student profile.

"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." I Corinithians 13:13

Hearts

We cherish each child as a unique individual, fearfully and wonderfully made, and we are committed to nurturing them within a community of love.

Hopes

Beyond academic excellence, we are committed to developing the whole child - nurturing their physical, emotional, and social well-being while instilling values that will anchor them for life.

Aims

We believe in every child’s potential and will walk alongside them in their journey of growth, inspiring them to dream boldly and strive towards their aspirations.

ACS Education

Rooted in Christian values, an ACS education upholds a commitment to holistic development, academic excellence, character formation, and service to others, nurturing each child’s potential to the fullest.

Inclusion

As a Methodist mission school, ACS has always been committed to providing education for all, welcoming students of all backgrounds, regardless of faith or race.

Our school traditions and culture place an emphasis on weekly chapel services and regular corporate prayers, fostering a nurturing environment where values and character are shaped.

From 2030 onwards, we will be co-located with ACS (Primary) at Tengah – a first in Singapore. This unique arrangement will create meaningful opportunities for structured and unstructured interactions, both within and beyond the classroom.

Celebrating the Individual

At the ACS (Academy), we honour each student’s unique strengths and potential. Grounded in Christian values and a commitment to character development, we nurture individuals who grow in faith, purpose, and excellence – forming a strong community that extends across Singapore and beyond.

Culture & Tradition

Since our humble beginnings in a Telok Ayer shophouse in 1886, the ACS spirit has been built upon a rich heritage, passed down through generations. Our vibrant co-curricular activities, shared house system, and strong multi-school camaraderie unite students, alumni, and parents, fostering lifelong bonds that transcend time and place.

Community

ACS (Academy) is a part of the community of Anglo-Chinese Schools, Methodist institutions and Alumni globally.
Working together with parents, our goal is for every student to thrive in a loving community, nurtured to fulfill his/her fullest potential, and make real-world contributions.

Admissions

ACS (Academy) supports children and youth on the autism spectrum without intellectual impairment in accessing the National Curriculum within a specialised learning environment. Our programmes support students across the primary, secondary and pre-vocational pathways, with appropriate supports to help them grow in independence and flourish.

Applications for students transferring from a mainstream school to a Special Education (SPED) school are coordinated centrally by the Ministry of Education (MOE).

Parents should inform their child’s current school if they wish to explore a SPED placement. The school will work with MOE to facilitate the application and assessment process.

To ensure appropriate placement and support for the child, SPED schools are not able to accept direct applications from parents, private professionals, or hospitals.

More information can be found on the MOE website:
https://www.moe.gov.sg/special-educational-needs/apply/transfer

My child is homeschooled or studying in a private school. How do I apply?

Incomplete applications or those submitted after the application window closes will be rolled over to the next admissions window.

Is there priority consideration like a mainstream school based on home distance, siblings, Alumni, Church and Grassroots leaders?

Unlike mainstream schools, SPED school admissions are not based on distance, siblings, alumni, church affiliation or community leadership roles.

Applications are assessed based on:

• the child’s learning and support needs
• the fit between the child’s profile and the school’s programmes
• the availability of places

Priority is given to Singapore Citizens, in accordance with national SPED admission policies.

The main consideration would be that ACS (Academy) is best able to support your child’s learning and development.

Do you offer mother tongue as part of curriculum?

Mother Tongue will not be offered as part of the formal curriculum at ACS (Academy).

What is your class ratio?

About

The Methodist Church in Singapore (MCS)

MCS derives its beginnings from a missionary initiative of the South India Conference led by Dr James Thoburn in 1885. Its early foundations were laid by the Rev William F Oldham, who established the Methodist Mission and The Anglo-Chinese School (ACS) in 1886.

Today, with 46 churches, 15 schools, missions and welfare agencies, MCS seeks to share the love of God and serve Him by reaching out to people in the different stages of their lives, who may speak different languages and have different needs.

The MCS’ educational mission is to nurture each new generation of students, raising them to be men and women of godly character and integrity, equipped to make a responsible contribution to society.

The mission of ACS is to provide “an all-round education in an environment which seeks to bring out the potential of every pupil to the fullest”. The aim is for every child – including children on the autism spectrum – to work towards the fulfilment of the mission and motto, “The Best is Yet to Be”, in all aspects of their lives, including sports, arts, community, and academic.

ACS Academy is established through a partnership between Anglo-Chinese School and Methodist Welfare Services.

Methodist Welfare Services (MWS)

Methodist Welfare Services (MWS)

MWS is dedicated to empowering individuals to live life to the fullest through holistic social and healthcare services, in collaboration with Methodist churches and the broader community.

Recognising that those they serve may experience poverty in various forms – such as weak social support or fractured relationships, poor health, diminished dignity, a sense of hopelessness, or a lack of financial means – MWS provides support by journeying alongside them while thoughtfully considering their experiences, aspirations and strengths. In all their efforts, MWS remains committed to upholding the dignity of those they serve.

Since its humble beginnings in 1981, MWS has expanded its sphere of impact, yet its core spirit of social holiness remains steadfast.

Today, MWS serves over 16,700 beneficiaries, including children and youths, families and individuals, and seniors, regardless of race, language or religion.

Bukit Panjang Methodist Church - Pastoral Care Support

Bukit Panjang Methodist Church provides pastoral care to students at ACS Academy. Our pastoral care system encourages and reinforces each student’s personal and social development. We seek to ensure that all students feel cared for and valued. A Chapel Service is held weekly for the whole school community where universal Christian values are espoused.

Houses

The ACS House System is the cornerstone of all ACS Schools and futhers the School’s pastoral care network, through which each child receives holistic support in all academic and non-academic areas.

Each student is sorted to one of eight Houses under the leadership of the House Master, House Tutors and student House Prefects.

The House Leaders oversee their students’ conduct in school, observe their relationship with other students, enforce discipline and offer guidance and counselling, develop their character, monitor their academic work and encourage high standards.

  1. Oldham House (OLD)
  2. Thoburn House (THO)
  3. Cheong Koon Seng House (CKS)
  4. Goh Hood Keng House (GHK)
  5. Tan Kah Kee House (TKK)
  6. Lee Seng Gee House (LSG)
  7. Shaw Vee Meng House (SVM)
  8. Tan Chin Tuan House (TCT)

The House enables a strong family environment to be maintained. The fraternal nature allows mentorship, sibling and close ties to be built in the school years and beyond.

Aims of the House System

  • To be the cornerstone of the pastoral care system.
  • To nurture a united community, house spirit, and leadership development within the House that permeates throughout the whole school.
  • To further social ties and life long fraternity
  • To champion the holistic development of students and provide every student with an adult advocate; specifically focusing on:
    • Student Development
    • Student Well-Being
    • Home and Community
    • Christian Character
School Anthem

In days of yore from western shores
Oldham dauntless hero came
and planted a beacon of Truth and Light
in this island of the Main.
Here may it stand from year to year
emblem of grand endeavour
The regions round echo the sound
of A.C.S. forever.

(Chorus)
Sing A.C.S. forever more,
our A.C.S. forever.
God save our land and heaven bless
our A.C.S. forever.

Our students hail from China’s plains
and the Land of Rising Sun.
We have many sons from India’s Strand
and the Islands of the Main.
Our hearts our hopes our aims are one.
No discord e’er will sever.
We’ll stand together for the cause
of A.C.S. forever.

(Chorus)
Sing A.C.S. forever more,
our A.C.S. forever.
God save our land and heaven bless
our A.C.S. forever.

ACS OBA

The Anglo-Chinese School Old Boys’ Association (ACSOBA) is the oldest formally incorporated alumni association in Singapore and is traditionally a self-funding voluntary organisation run by faithful ACSians who rally together to work for the betterment of their alma mater. The ACSOBA regularly provides a platform for personal contact and organises numerous activities for its members.

The ACS spirit and the unshakable bonds that ACSians have with the School and each other are the fruit of years of camaraderie. As a result, alumni have a unique sense of loyalty and gratitude to their alma mater.

The ACS Foundation

The ACS Foundation aims to centralize the philanthropic efforts of the ACS family. By consolidating our efforts centrally, we believe we can better continue our heritage and tradition of the ACS spirit.

Gifts received by the Foundation equip us to provide bursaries to current students, support carefully selected programs at the ACS schools and strengthen the ONE ACS spirit through combined educational and community initiatives of the ACS family.
